On My Walk Today…

Hurray! The best walk ever!!*

*And I mean this sincerely. If you know me, you know there is nothing I like better than a good Jesus discussion, especially when said discussion is from good people trying to save my soul**! I was only sad that I couldn’t chat with them more, but I was on a break and had to get back to work…

**This reminds me of a post I've been meaning to blog about: my TV pastor! Cause I have one, and I watch him every Sunday. And I've even ordered his book and am on his one month program! I've got a bracelet to prove it and everything!***

***Don't worry, I'm not converting. I'm just trying to understand how people believe what they believe (or don't believe, for that matter). This gives me something to think about when I'm in nursery...

Just Finished Reading

The Writing Group Critique and Survival Guide by Becky Levine: What I liked most about this book was that she had specific chapters on how to critique specific types of writing. Critiquing poetry is different than prose. Fiction is different than nonfiction. Romance is different than Sci-fi. Very helpful.
Okay for Now by Gary Schmidt: I cried while reading this book. I’m not ashamed to admit it. But, I’m sensing a theme with this author. So, while I love his writing, I don’t know if I’ll read another of his books if it deals with a young teenage boy with a lousy father who is inspired by a teacher/mentor.
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King: On my quest to read every book written on writing, this one came highly recommended by almost every author I’ve read. And it was well worth the praise. Aside from the cussing, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a great deal.
The Shinning by Stephen King: Having never read a “horror” book, I didn’t know what to expect. It was definitely disturbing and a little creepy, but I wouldn’t say that I was ever scared. I love the way Stephen describes things, though. Very naturally and seamless.
